Family Registration Certificate (FRC)
خاندانی سرٹیفکیٹ (ایف آر سی)
The Pakistan Origin Card (POC) is issued to foreign nationals of Pakistani heritage and their family members, or to the family members of Pakistani nationals who choose not to naturalize or otherwise exercise the rights afforded to Pakistani nationals. Acting as a form of permanent residency, it allows holders to enter the country without a visa, live and work without restriction, and access key services such as those relating to banking or owning property. Applicants are encouraged to verify their non-citizen status before applying. It is issued by the National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA).
One may not apply as a citizen of the following countries or territories:
POCs can be applied for online at id.nadra.gov.pk or by using the PAK Identity mobile app.
Situational Guides
My POC was lost/stolen!
Download the Pak Identity app published by NADRA and fill out forms as needed. A new POC will be mailed to the address originally listed. Additionally, you may file an FIR if your card was stolen or lost in a public place.
I want to modify data listed on my POC.
Changes to the card holder's information may be processed in person at a foreign mission of the government of Pakistan, and may require the submission of the original POC. Changes to one's name or date of birth require a copy of their foreign passport that reflects the change, as well as any related court orders. Changing one's registered permanent address inside Pakistan requires documentation that the applicant has a legal claim to the residence, such as property/tenancy documents or family members' affidavits and NICOP/POC numbers. Any updates to marital status require relevant legal documents issued by the holder's country of origin. (Note: foreign spouses of Pakistani nationals may not update marital status to ‘Divorce’.)
In contrast to the Shanakhti Cards issued in the past, modern NICs are issued with personal identity numbers that are 13 digits long. One's identity number contains information about their place of registration, followed by an individual serial code and a check digit that reveals their gender. An example can be seen below:
Shanakhti Number: 101-28-000001
Smart NIC Number: 34202-4898111-1
